ABO has published a report designed to help improve evaluation practices for educational projects. 'Make The Difference' was commissioned by the ABO in order to carry out a review of current evaluation methods among its member orchestras and to produce practical guidance in their advancement.

The Shannon Trust has been announced as one of the five winners of the Guardian Charity Awards 2009. In a ceremony presented by the Prime Minister’s wife, Sarah Brown, the prison literacy charity was chosen out of 500 entrants to receive the £1,000 prize.

Learning Away will hold the first of a series of national and regional themed events in the New Year. On the 20th January, Goodenough College in Bloomsbury will host practitioners from the Special Initiative in order for them to meet one another and hear about their individual programmes.
