Strategy

PHF's strategic plan was initially developed for the period 2006-2012, and has been rolled over into 2013.

The plan lays out our strategic aims for this period:

  1. Enabling people to experience and enjoy the arts.
  2. Developing people's education and learning.
  3. Integrating marginalised young people who are at times of transition.

In addition to three supporting aims:
  4. Advancing through research the understanding of the relationships between the arts, education and learning and social change.
  5. Developing the capacity of organisations and people who facilitate our strategic aims.
  6. Developing the Foundation itself to be an exemplar foundation, existing in perpetuity.

Strategy review

in 2009 we conducted a mid-point review of the plan, to assess progress against our objectives. We did this through two externally commissioned pieces of research. The first was by BOP Consulting, which analysed management information, accounts, grant outcomes and evaluations from across the Foundation's programmes. The second was a Grantee Perception Report from the US-based Center for Effective Philanthropy, which surveyed grantees from the previous five years and measured our impact and effectiveness over that period in relation to comparative data from hundreds of other foundations internationally.

More on each of these reports can be found via the links on the left.
