The Learning Away programme has been designed by the partner schools involved to deliver a range of philosophical and learning objectives, which are: focusing on raising standards of achievement; developing learning resilience; building community cohesion; developing authentic opportunities for learners and staff to collaboratively research, plan, design, co-construct and evaluate residential learning programmes as a catalyst for developing similar approaches to all aspects of learning; ensuring equity of entitlement within the context of an inclusive, inspirational and aspirational all-through learning culture; contributing to a smooth transition between Key Stage 2-3, Key Stage 3-4 Key Stage 4-5.
Related training events and courses will be cross-phase, appropriate for Primary and Secondary/FE staff to support the transition process and to enable a shared approach and understanding. CPD priorities will also support and complement the CPD Plans for the Primary and Secondary Collaboratives in Barrow and Furness (BAPS and FEC), and will also meet the Every Child Matters' agenda and Children's Services Children and Young People' Plan.
